Our pottery studio was set up in 2014 by Chris Turrell and Don Parkinson. Originally running in Southport and called the Southport Ceramics Studio, the studio moved down to Liverpool in 2018 to the city’s Baltic Triangle district and renamed Baltic Clay. We have now moved to the Ten Streets area of North Liverpool to our lovely new loft style studio on Dickson Street.
Our aim has always been to provide the space, support and tuition for beginner’s and hobby potters to learn about the creative possibilities of clay.

Chris Turrell has been making work in clay for the last 30 years. He has taught in a variety of institutions including Central St Martins, Southport College and Brighton University.
His own work has been exhibited and sold across the country and internationally. He recently exhibited as part of the international craft fair at Collect Open, London and “Poppy for Derek” was acquired by National Museums Liverpool for the collections of the Walker Art Gallery- currently showing at the Walker in the display “All That Glitters: Lustre Decoration on Ceramics 1900- 2025“. Eric Firestone Gallery in New York receently purchased five, large scale pieces for their collection. He continues to develop his work in the studio working on commissions and exhibitions.
